November 20th – 22nd, 2008
I have been invited by Ekaterina Antonenko to take masterclasses and give a lecture at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow, under the auspices of Professors M.A.Saponov and V.V.Sukhanov.
The lecture will be entitled ‘Renaissance polyphony at the English Chapel Royal’ and will be given in the early afternoon of November 21st in the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music.
The masterclasses will culminate in a concert in the Anglican Church of St Andrew (which in the Soviet era was the Melodiya recording studios, so the acoustics are known to be good) on the 22nd November in the evening. The programme will be:
Praetorius: Magnificat V
Josquin: Tu solus qui facis
Philips: Ecce vicit Leo
Alonso Lobo: Versa est in luctum
Palestrina: Nunc dimittis
Tallis: Loquebantur variis linguis
Gibbons: Hosanna to the Son
